Fundraising and Community Engagement Manager - Job Summary
The Manager, Fundraising and Community Engagement leads and expands peer-to-peer endurance programs, supports Walk ALS and community fundraising initiatives, and drives revenue through endurance events while managing participant engagement and volunteer coordination.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead recruitment, application vetting, registration, and onboarding of Team ALS endurance race participants.
- Support athletes to reach fundraising goals via coaching and regular communication.
- Maintain financial reporting and status updates for endurance events; create post-event debrief reports.
- Develop collateral materials including graphics for events and communications.
- Manage fundraising Walk teams to maximize retention, engagement, and revenue.
- Lead Fundraise Your Way third-party fundraising program and provide resources and representation.
- Recruit and manage volunteers for external events including Walk ALS and Team ALS.
- Provide logistical and technical support for donors using the online fundraising portal.
- Identify new revenue sources and cause-related marketing opportunities.
- Assist in additional events and projects, including Lou Gehrig Awareness Baseball games, ALS Iron Horse Golf Classic, Lou Gehrig Legacy Gala, and awareness programs.
- Staff and assist with on-site event production including some evenings, weekends, and travel.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree required.
- 3-5 years of experience in fundraising, event management, community engagement, or related fields.
- Proven success in growing and managing fundraising programs; peer-to-peer fundraising experience preferred.
- Strong relationship-building skills with donors, volunteers, and corporate partners.
- Excellent project management and multitasking abilities.
- Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Diplomatic and able to work well under pressure and in teams.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; Adobe Suite and/or Canva preferred.
- Familiarity with Luminate Online and Raiser’s Edge or similar CRM and fundraising tools preferred.
- Availability to work nights and weekends as needed.
- Ability to travel to events with a valid driver’s license.
- Physical ability to perform event preparation tasks including lifting and setup.
