Director of Innovation Programs and Community Engagement - Job Summary
Leads BBB's efforts to support small business owners through campus activation, innovative programming, strategic partnerships, and community engagement, focusing on program growth, revenue, and stakeholder relationships within the Phoenix area.
Key Responsibilities
- Activate and grow the ignite sparked by BBB campus through events, partnerships, and programming to drive revenue and engagement
- Develop and maintain a calendar of events, workshops, educational programs, and community convenings
- Lead planning and execution of workshops, networking events, and community gatherings including logistics and budgeting
- Ensure a welcoming and high-quality experience for guests, partners, and participants at the campus
- Manage and evolve small business education programs and develop new initiatives
- Develop curriculum and oversee program implementation for various stages of small business growth
- Build and steward strategic partnerships and sponsorships to expand program reach
- Represent BBB in the community via events, speaking engagements, and media
- Lead local Innovation team and oversee campus operations and staffing
- Manage program budgets and grant-funded initiatives, identify grant opportunities
- Collaborate on sponsorship and partnership proposals to ensure financial sustainability
- Identify opportunities to improve space utilization, operations, and program delivery
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree or equivalent experience preferred
- Five or more years leadership experience in small business programs, economic development, nonprofit leadership, or related fields
- Ability to manage program budgets and grant- or sponsor-funded initiatives
- Strong project management and organizational skills for multiple initiatives
- Experience planning and delivering events, workshops, and community programming
- Established relationships within Phoenix small business community
- Excellent communication and public speaking skills
- Proven ability to build and sustain strategic partnerships
- Comfort in a public-facing leadership role
- Proficiency with productivity platforms, project management tools, and AI-enabled tools
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work evenings or weekends as needed
Education
Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred
