Community Engagement Specialist - Job Summary

The Community Engagement Specialist leads the Connect for Life program by fostering connections among members through events, outreach, and home visits to improve health and community engagement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the Connect For Life program using Wider Circle's curriculum to build trust and promote health
  • Plan and host virtual and in-person events to foster member relationships and wellness
  • Proactively contact members for participation in events and group activities through calls and home visits
  • Record member interactions and attendance using online systems for tracking and reporting
  • Identify and engage natural community leaders as Wider Circle Ambassadors
  • Conduct outreach to potential members and develop personalized enrollment plans
  • Serve as liaison connecting members to health plans and health care services
  • Achieve membership engagement and growth goals, tracking metrics like attendance and feedback
  • Manage time and report hours worked in a remote environment
  • Conduct in-home visits when necessary
  • Perform physical activities including driving, carrying supplies, standing during events, and effective communication

Requirements

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish (spoken and written)
  • 3+ years experience in community outreach, teaching, or facilitation; healthcare experience a plus
  • Experience building or supporting communities of 500+ members
  • Associate's degree preferred; 5+ years relevant experience may substitute
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize and follow through
  • Tech savvy with web and app-based systems
  • Independent worker capable of remote task management with little supervision
  • Reliable transportation and willingness to travel 20-50 miles
  • Flexible schedule to work outside regular hours when needed
  • Team player with positive attitude and leadership ability
  • Proactive, adaptable, eager to learn and grow
  • Commitment to drug-free employment with consent to pre-employment testing and background checks

Education

Associate's degree preferred; 5+ years relevant experience may substitute
