Senior Community Manager - Job Summary
Lead digital engagement and management of the dbt Slack community, fostering a welcoming environment for data practitioners worldwide and collaborating with internal teams to enhance community experience and insights.
Key Responsibilities
- Own day-to-day operations of the dbt Slack community to ensure a welcoming, high-signal experience for members globally
- Partner with community leaders and internal stakeholders to evolve channel strategy, guidelines, and engagement programming
- Develop and maintain scalable moderation and support workflows, including Code of Conduct enforcement
- Coach and support moderators and community champions; recruit and onboard new moderators as the community grows
- Create content systems to keep members informed and engaged through announcements, highlights, and storytelling
- Surface community insights and member feedback to Product, Marketing, and Support and close the loop with the community on outcomes
- Monitor and report key engagement and health metrics and conduct experiments for improvement
- Manage the community tool stack for digital engagement and document best practices
- Plan and manage incident response in collaboration with Legal, People, and Security teams
- Support digital engagement beyond Slack across forums, social, and events to create a cohesive member journey
Requirements
- 5+ years experience in digital community management, online engagement, or community program management in a global/distributed environment
- Experience managing day-to-day operations for a large online community including moderation, member support, and community health
- Strong understanding of online community dynamics to cultivate trust, belonging, and shared purpose at scale
- Experience building and improving moderation and support workflows including Code of Conduct enforcement
- Excellent written communication and facilitation skills, able to respond empathetically and de-escalate issues
- Proficiency with community tools and analytics to track engagement, identify trends, and drive improvements
- Data-informed decision making with defined KPIs for engagement and health and outcome reporting
- Strong cross-functional collaboration skills across Product, Marketing, Support, and Developer Experience
- Cultural fluency and sensitivity to communication differences across regions and timezones
- High emotional intelligence and comfort managing complex situations
- Ability to prioritize multiple work streams in a fast-paced, flexible environment
