Director - Job Summary
The Director leads innovation programs and community engagement efforts to support small business owners by driving strategy, growth, and execution of entrepreneurship programs and managing the ignite sparked by BBB campus in Phoenix.
Key Responsibilities
- Activate and grow the ignite sparked by BBB campus through revenue generation, programming, and partnerships
- Develop and maintain a calendar of events, workshops, educational programs, and community gatherings
- Lead planning and execution of events including workshops, networking, and educational sessions
- Oversee event logistics such as scheduling, vendor coordination, budgeting, and execution
- Ensure a welcoming, professional experience for guests, partners, and participants
- Manage and evolve small business education programs and develop new initiatives
- Develop and refine curriculum and learning experiences for small business owners
- Implement programs from planning through execution with strong participant outcomes
- Build and maintain strategic partnerships and sponsorships to support program growth
- Cultivate relationships with organizations, educational institutions, leaders, and partners
- Represent BBB at community events, speaking engagements, and media opportunities
- Lead the local Innovation team and oversee campus operations and coordination
- Supervise program support staff and campus-related roles
- Identify improvements to space utilization, operational efficiency, and program delivery
- Manage program budgets and grant-funded initiatives, assist in grant proposal development
- Contribute to partnership proposals and ensure program financial sustainability
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree or equivalent experience preferred
- Five or more years of leadership in small business programs, economic development, nonprofit leadership, or related fields
- Experience managing budgets and grant- or sponsor-funded initiatives
- Strong project management and organizational skills
- Leadership experience in planning and delivering events, workshops, and community programs
- Established relationships in the Phoenix small business community
- Excellent communication and public speaking skills
- Ability to build and sustain strategic partnerships
- Comfortable representing an organization in a public-facing leadership role
- Proficiency with productivity platforms, project management tools, and emerging technologies including Google Workspace and AI tools
- Physical ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds
- Availability to work evenings or weekends as needed
Education
Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree or equivalent experience preferred
