Intern - Community Engagement - Job Summary

Assist the Department of Neighborhoods with community outreach and engagement initiatives under the guidance of the Community Development Division Director.

Key Responsibilities

  • Interact with the public, City and county staff, City officials, and outside agencies
  • Research planning-related issues to assist in preparing documents and reports
  • Assist staff with day-to-day tasks related to planning initiatives
  • Attend meetings outside typical business hours
  • Assist with coordination of public outreach meetings and activities

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Urban Planning, Public Administration, Sociology, Anthropology, History, Economics, Community Development, or related field
  • Broad knowledge of urban planning and community development principles and procedures
  • Ability to manage multiple projects or initiatives simultaneously
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Teams
  • Ability to manage schedules, spreadsheets, participant tracking, and event documentation
  • Preferred valid Indiana Driver's License if operating City vehicle

Education

Currently pursuing Bachelor's or Master's degree
