Senior Community Manager - Job Summary
Lead digital engagement and manage growth of the dbt Slack community by creating a welcoming environment for data practitioners, partnering with teams to enhance member experience, and driving community insights.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily operations of the dbt Slack community ensuring a positive experience for members worldwide
- Collaborate with community leaders and internal teams to evolve engagement strategy and guidelines
- Develop scalable moderation workflows including triage, escalation, and Code of Conduct enforcement
- Coach, support, recruit, and onboard community moderators and champions
- Create content systems for member communication and community storytelling
- Provide community insights and feedback to Product, Marketing, and Support teams
- Monitor engagement and health metrics and conduct experiments for improvement
- Manage community digital engagement tools and document best practices
- Coordinate incident response with Legal, People, and Security teams as needed
- Support multi-channel digital engagement beyond Slack to ensure cohesive member journey
Requirements
- 5+ years in digital community management or online engagement in a global or distributed environment
- Experience managing large online community daily operations including moderation and member support
- Strong understanding of online community dynamics to cultivate trust and belonging at scale
- Experience building moderation/support workflows and enforcing Code of Conduct
- Excellent written communication and facilitation skills for empathetic and productive interactions
- Proficient with community tools and analytics for tracking engagement and trends
- Data-informed decision making with KPI definition, impact measurement, and reporting
- Strong cross-functional collaboration partnering with Product, Marketing, Support, and Developer Experience
- Cultural sensitivity and fluency across regions and timezones
- High emotional intelligence and ability to manage complex situations
- Ability to prioritize multiple work streams in a fast-paced, flexible environment
