Director, Community Engagement and Governance - Job Summary
Leads the Jewish Federation in Your Neighborhood initiative focusing on leadership recruitment and training, supervises related teams, manages stakeholder and board relationships, and oversees governance and leadership development strategies.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise the Jewish Federation in Your Neighborhood Initiative and associated teams.
- Support stakeholder relationships to integrate community input, volunteers, and philanthropic support.
- Steward relationships with synagogue and agency leaders to identify partnership opportunities.
- Manage the department budget and ensure collection and analysis of program data.
- Create presentations to strengthen connections and showcase Federation impact.
- Coordinate the Fall Holiday Guide project.
- Implement an engaging governance structure with the CEO and lead board meeting planning.
- Steward Governance and Nominations Committee processes for board member placement.
- Support placement of volunteers on Federation and community committees.
- Design and implement major annual Federation events in collaboration with related departments.
- Supervise leadership development strategy and engage volunteers for meaningful opportunities.
- Develop and liaise with the Board of Ambassadors.
Requirements
- Reliable transportation for travel and event attendance.
- 5-7 years of experience in a non-profit setting, preferably in Jewish communal work.
- Proven project management skills.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- 3+ years of progressive supervisory experience.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent with relevant experience.
- Deep knowledge of Jewish holiday cycles, communal norms, and emerging trends.
- Proven experience developing programs and running successful events.
