Senior Director of Community Engagement - Job Summary

Lead strategic vision and growth of JCC Chicago’s community engagement portfolio, overseeing diverse programs to deepen participation, strengthen Jewish identity, and expand community reach while driving sustainable growth through innovation and partnerships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a multi-year community engagement strategy with KPIs on reach, retention, conversion, and impact.
  • Establish systems for program evaluation including feedback loops and data tracking to support continuous improvement.
  • Drive integration and alignment across early childhood, camp, teen, and adult programs.
  • Identify, scale, redesign, or sunset programs based on impact and data insights.
  • Build and manage external partnerships and fundraising initiatives to support programs and events.
  • Collaborate with fundraising and marketing teams on strategy, donor engagement, and brand positioning.
  • Lead innovation and expansion of program models, audiences, and delivery methods.
  • Manage budget performance, revenue generation, and cost control for community engagement programs.
  • Oversee program execution ensuring quality, consistency, and measurable impact.
  • Build and maintain a high-performing team culture focusing on strategic growth and impact.
  • Communicate effectively with program participants and partners to ensure clarity and quality customer service.
  • Ensure physical and emergency preparedness for event facilitation and participant support.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred in Jewish Communal Service, Social Work, or Education.
  • Minimum 10+ years experience in educational, social, or community-building settings.
  • Proven experience creating and implementing broad-based cultural and community programming.
  • Outreach experience to lay leaders and community stakeholders required.
  • Success in individual and corporate/organizational fundraising desired.
  • Strong networking and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience in budget development, management, and compliance.
  • Physical stamina for event setup and engagement, ability to lift at least 20 lbs.
  • Ability to travel daily to various program sites.

Education

Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred in Jewish Communal Service, Social Work, or Education
