Director of Community Engagement and Outreach - Job Summary
The Director leads strategic and operational community engagement and outreach efforts, supervising Community Managers and coordinating resident-facing initiatives to build relationships and connect residents to resources within Place-Based Initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the Community Engagement and Outreach team including Managers, Coordinators, and contractors.
- Lead development and implementation of comprehensive outreach plans including canvassing, phone/text banking, and event engagement.
- Ensure consistent Phase 1 resident engagement focusing on needs identification and resource navigation.
- Maintain alignment of outreach with broader organizational community engagement goals.
- Guide collection and use of resident insights to inform programming and decisions.
- Collaborate with internal partners to integrate resident feedback and improve coordination.
- Provide strategic direction, staffing, training oversight, and workflow management for outreach operations.
- Identify and apply best practices in outreach and community relationship development.
- Support the strategic vision of Place-Based Initiatives in collaboration with leadership.
Requirements
- Deep knowledge of outreach and community engagement best practices.
- Strong strategic thinking aligning operations with organizational priorities.
- Proven management experience coaching and supervising managers.
- Excellent collaboration and systems thinking skills.
- Strong communication skills including strategic planning, presentations, and reporting.
- Project management experience overseeing multi-component operations.
- Sound judgment and flexible decision-making in community environments.
- Complex problem-solving and ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to model best practices and foster community-centered engagement culture.
Education
Associates degree or equivalent experience; advanced degree and experience equivalencies considered.
