Director of Community Engagement - Job Summary
Lead fundraising and community engagement efforts focused on special events in the Greater Chicagoland area, managing key relationships and serving as an ambassador for Autism Speaks.
Key Responsibilities
- Achieve revenue goals for assigned fundraising events
- Execute fundraising events with volunteer leadership, including committee recruitment and retention
- Implement strategies for sponsorship and committee recruitment and mission integration
- Support local implementation of global Autism Speaks campaigns
- Manage day-to-day operations of events including logistics, data entry, acknowledgements, and materials
- Provide administrative support to volunteer committees
- Make presentations to secure sponsorships, recruit teams and volunteers, and manage accounts year-round
- Integrate digital marketing initiatives like email campaigns and fundraising websites
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- 7+ years fundraising experience with 5 years leading special events
- Leadership skills in volunteer recruitment, relationship building, networking, budget management
- Proven multi-functional fundraising experience including special events and corporate campaigns
- Strong oral and written communication and presentation skills
- Strong analytical skills and adaptability
- Intermediate proficiency in MS Office 365 including Excel and Outlook
- Database knowledge (Stratus Live and Blackbaud Luminate preferred)
- Well-organized, detail-oriented, high energy, professional, and diplomatic
- Willingness to work evenings and weekends as needed
- Ability to travel for events and meetings, including overnight stays
- Reliable transportation with valid driver’s license and insurance
Education
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
