Community Engagement and Public Relations Intern - Job Summary
The intern will support the Communications Manager to enhance impact storytelling, media visibility, and online community engagement through public relations and content creation.
Key Responsibilities
- Support development and execution of public relations strategy
- Draft press releases, media pitches, op-eds, and other PR materials
- Research relevant media outlets and reporters
- Identify timely news moments for media response
- Track media coverage and maintain PR documentation
- Support development of talking points and messaging trainings
- Identify, collect, write, and organize impact stories
- Conduct interviews and capture photos/video clips
- Draft blog posts and newsletter articles following brand standards
- Monitor social media channels and engage with community partners
- Research relevant partners, organizations, events, and opportunities
- Support additional communications or team tasks as needed
Requirements
- Strong interest in communications, public relations, writing, or marketing
- Strong writing and storytelling skills tailored to various audiences
- Strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills
- Interest in supporting interviews, note-taking, photography, and video content capture under supervision
- Ability to follow consent, privacy, safety, and content storage procedures
- Ability to complete tasks with guidance, ask questions, and manage time effectively
- Ability to work quickly while maintaining attention to detail
- Ability to support basic photo and video capture using approved tools and processes
- Commitment to agreed-upon schedule and reliable transportation
- Completion of required youth interaction clearances before starting
Education
Enrolled in or graduated from a relevant degree program (e.g., marketing, communications, journalism)
