Olmstead Policy and Community Engagement Intern - Job Summary
The intern will support the launch and public engagement efforts for the Chief Disability Officer (CDO) of New York State, focusing on community integration, inclusion, and accessibility for people with disabilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in organizing and promoting community engagement events such as town halls, listening sessions, and stakeholder meetings
- Draft accessible outreach materials, agendas, and post-event summaries
- Develop and maintain a contact list of community-based organizations and advocacy groups across New York
- Coordinate event logistics and outreach communications with partner agencies
- Support development of talking points and briefing content for senior leadership
Requirements
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Outgoing and comfortable speaking with the public
- Interest in disability rights, public engagement, and government operations
- Experience or coursework in public policy, communications, or public administration
- Excellent organization, follow-through, and attention to detail
Education
Must be attending a college or university in New York State
