Community Engagement & Employer Outreach Specialist - Job Summary
Support the Recovery Friendly Workplace initiative by conducting community outreach, building employer relationships, delivering presentations, and facilitating training to promote recovery-supportive workplaces in Rhode Island.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct outreach to employers, business associations, and community partners to promote Recovery Friendly Workplace certification
- Represent the program at networking events, conferences, and community forums
- Manage leads through the outreach cycle from identification to certification consultations
- Develop and maintain a statewide business contact network using CRM
- Collaborate with Program Director for certification follow-up and assistance
- Create outreach materials, presentations, and success stories
- Deliver presentations and workshops on recovery-friendly workplace principles
- Facilitate training sessions promoting stigma reduction and workforce well-being
- Assist employers in meeting training requirements for certification
- Support communications through content for social media and newsletters
- Maintain accurate records and submit activity and program reports
- Assist in planning statewide events and recognition ceremonies
Requirements
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills with diverse stakeholders
- Knowledge of behavioral health, substance use, and recovery-supportive workplace practices
- Public speaking, facilitation, and presentation experience
- Organizational and time-management skills; ability to work independently and in a team
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, CRM platforms, AI tools, and digital communication tools
- Demonstrated initiative, creativity, and professionalism
- Reliable transportation and willingness to travel within Rhode Island
- Ability to work occasional early morning, evening, or weekend events
Education
Bachelor's degree preferred but not required in communications, public health, business, marketing, or related field
