Director of Membership & Community Engagement - Job Summary
Leads community engagement, outreach, relationship development, and growth strategies to increase membership, program participation, philanthropy, and community involvement for the Olean YMCA.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement community engagement strategies to drive membership acquisition, retention, and program participation.
- Represent YMCA in the community by networking with businesses, schools, healthcare providers, nonprofits, municipalities, and civic organizations.
- Develop and strengthen partnerships to increase membership growth, sponsorships, referrals, volunteerism, and philanthropy.
- Spend approximately 50% of time on community outreach, partnership development, and networking.
- Collaborate with Executive Director, Marketing Director, and Membership Team on marketing and promotional campaigns.
- Oversee branch social media planning, content coordination, and engagement strategies.
- Maintain marketing, outreach, membership, and engagement calendar aligned with organizational priorities.
- Analyze membership trends and campaign effectiveness, recommending improvements.
- Set and monitor measurable goals for community engagement and membership growth, reporting outcomes regularly.
- Lead initiatives to strengthen member relationships, improve retention, and enhance member experience.
- Identify opportunities for community awareness through public speaking and events.
- Track outreach activities, partnership development, referral pipelines, and engagement outcomes.
- Lead membership sales strategies through outreach, lead generation, and corporate partnerships.
- Assist with planning and promoting YMCA events and campaigns.
- Recruit, engage, and steward volunteers supporting outreach and membership growth.
- Serve as Staff Liaison for the Olean Annual Campaign supporting donors and sponsors.
- Function as Leader on Duty as scheduled.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Executive Director.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, communications, marketing, recreation management, human services, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- 3 to 5 years experience in membership operations, sales, community engagement, or customer service leadership.
- Experience supervising staff and leading teams.
- Experience in budgeting, financial oversight, and data-driven decision-making.
- Ability to establish and grow relationships with community partners and stakeholders.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and public relations skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a dynamic environment.
- Strong computer and technology skills including membership management software and reporting tools.
Education
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience
