Outreach Guide - Job Summary
The Outreach Guide acts as an ambassador connecting library services to communities through events, programs, and outreach at Express Libraries and other locations, focusing on building relationships and expanding access.
Key Responsibilities
- Create engaging experiences and connect customers with information in person, phone, and email.
- Develop and implement programs, presentations, and workshops.
- Train and coordinate programs at Express Libraries, bookmobile, and outreach events.
- Serve as a knowledgeable reference person and technology trainer.
- Curate collections and manage displays to keep them fresh and engaging.
- Build partnerships with local organizations to reach underserved populations.
- Lead and train staff on library operations and procedures.
- Conduct community outreach and represent the branch in committees and schools.
- Drive and perform safety checks on the 36-foot bookmobile and van.
- Assist customers with library services including registration, material requests, and computer assistance.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree required; MLS or Master's degree preferred.
- Presentation or training experience.
- Continuous learner with digital literacy skills.
- Library or bookstore experience preferred.
- Good driving history and responsibility for operating bookmobile and van.
- Ability to pass a drug test and non-DOT physical exam.
- Physical ability to load and unload books and perform manual tasks.
Education
Bachelor's degree required; MLS or Master's degree preferred
