Chief Community Engagement Officer - Job Summary
The Chief Community Engagement Officer is a senior executive reporting to the CEO responsible for brand leadership, cultivating relationships with stakeholders, and leading teams in education, marketing, and community relations to expand the Museum’s reach and impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as primary public spokesperson and ambassador at community, civic, and national engagements
- Cultivate and steward relationships with elected officials, policymakers, donors, and community partners
- Lead and mentor leadership teams across Education, Visitor & Member Experience, Marketing, and Community Relations
- Oversee integrated marketing, public relations, brand strategy, and crisis communications
- Partner with CEO and Board on strategy, messaging, and sensitive issues
- Apply a hospitality-driven approach to increase visitation, earned revenue, and donor relationships
- Lead public policy, government relations, advocacy, and efforts to secure government funding
- Connect the Museum’s mission and programs to current events and public discourse
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field required
- 10+ years of progressively responsible executive leadership in external relations, public relations, marketing, or community engagement
- Exceptional executive presence and public speaking, writing, and interpersonal skills
- Experience addressing antisemitism, bigotry, human rights, genocide prevention or social impact issues preferred
- Proven success in crisis management and maintaining a steady, nonpolitical institutional voice
- Experience in public policy, government relations, advocacy, and securing public funding
- Track record applying a hospitality mindset to grow audiences and increase earned revenue
Education
Bachelor’s degree in a related field
