Vice President of Community Engagement - Job Summary
Lead development and implementation of community engagement, industry activation, and destination development strategies that strengthen Lane County's economy and quality of life through sustainable tourism. Build and sustain partnerships across public, private, nonprofit, and membership organizations.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide organizational leadership, mentoring and inspire a team aligned with Travel Lane County’s values.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate community and industry engagement strategies.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with local businesses, government, media, and community stakeholders.
- Advocate for tourism benefits and community-based tourism policies.
- Lead local media and communications strategy to elevate the organization's role and reputation.
- Oversee membership development, services, and events.
- Generate and coordinate external reports and community campaign communications.
- Represent Travel Lane County at public hearings, forums, and community events.
- Monitor and analyze industry data and tax use for transparency and strategy alignment.
- Support special projects and adapt responsively to assigned duties.
Requirements
- Minimum 10+ years in strategic public affairs, communications, community development or related fields.
- 5+ years of supervisory experience.
- Experience with advocacy, community organizing, and collaboration across diverse groups.
- Excellent leadership, communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Public speaking and media relations experience.
- Proficient in CRM systems (Simpleview preferred), Microsoft Office 365, newsletter software.
- Ability to analyze data, prepare reports, and present complex information clearly.
- Valid Oregon driver's license, clean driving record, and ability to drive company van.
- Ability to set up and manage event materials and work occasional evenings/weekends.
- Passion for community service and a professional, enthusiastic attitude.
