Community Manager - Job Summary
The Community Manager will lead community engagement and outreach efforts for a West Virginia energy program focused on equitable access to solar energy for vulnerable residents, supporting program participation and community empowerment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and execute community engagement strategies to increase program participation
- Organize and facilitate community forums, information sessions, and public meetings
- Build and maintain relationships with community organizations, faith-based groups, and neighborhood associations
- Develop accessible educational materials and maintain consistent messaging across channels
- Establish and manage partnerships with nonprofits, government officials, utilities, and financing organizations
- Serve as primary contact for participants, guiding them through eligibility and application
- Conduct surveys and feedback analysis to improve program effectiveness
- Plan and coordinate community events, workshops, and seasonal engagement campaigns
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in communications, community development, social work, public administration, or related field (or equivalent community engagement experience)
- Minimum 2 years of experience in community outreach, engagement, or program coordination
- Experience working with low- and moderate-income communities and understanding of social equity
- Strong interpersonal, communication, public speaking, and organizational skills
- Proficiency with social media, content management systems, and basic design software
- Preferred experience with renewable energy, environmental programs, and knowledge of energy assistance programs
- Familiarity with West Virginia communities and regional dynamics
Education
Bachelor's degree in communications, community development, social work, public administration, or related field
