Community Manager - Job Summary
The Community Manager will build, manage, and grow the Texas Sports Academy community of parents and student-athletes, serving as the primary contact and host for community programming both online and in person.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the community end to end, including communications, member engagement, response times, and overall member experience.
- Plan and host online events such as parent information sessions, speaker panels, student-athlete socials, Q&A sessions, and family meetups.
- Expand event programming to include in-person events as the community grows.
- Coordinate speakers and guests, managing all event logistics from invitation through follow-up.
- Engage daily with members through community channels, social platforms, email, and the parent portal.
- Provide timely and accurate information about program policies, schedules, and resources, routing specialized questions as needed.
- Maintain and manage a rolling calendar of events and engagement touchpoints.
Requirements
- Community management experience in schools, athletic programs, membership organizations, or similar groups.
- Proven event planning and execution skills including speaker outreach and coordination.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, engaging parents and student-athletes effectively.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently in a remote environment.
- Background in athletics with personal experience as an athlete, coach, or sports-related role.
- Texas residency required; Austin-area preferred for in-person programming.
- Comfortable using AI tools like ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity for communications, event planning, data analysis, and task automation.
- Bonus: Skills in content creation, parent communications, social media management, bilingual English/Spanish fluency, and familiarity with tools such as Mailchimp, Beehiiv, Notion, Slack, Zoom, and parent communication portals.
