Education and Community Engagement Officer - Job Summary
The role involves building relationships with local stakeholders and delivering community engagement, education, and outreach activities to promote waste management and recycling awareness.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver marketing, communications and engagement activities according to plans and evaluate their effectiveness
- Develop and deliver awareness campaigns and community events promoting recycling, waste reduction, and sustainability
- Organise and deliver educational programs for schools and community groups aligned with the National Curriculum
- Plan, manage and host site visits, open days and tours, ensuring safety, engagement, and coordination
- Act as first point of contact for community enquiries and complaints, managing communication channels including the website
- Represent the service at stakeholder meetings and lead external communications to enhance site reputation
Requirements
- Previous employment in a relevant industrial or commercial environment
- Good understanding of environmental issues and waste management practices
- Knowledge of environmental legislation and compliance requirements
- Experience with social media platforms for communication and engagement
- Willingness to undergo a CRB (DBS) disclosure check
- Availability for some evening work
