Education and Community Engagement Officer - Job Summary

The role involves building relationships with local stakeholders and delivering community engagement, education, and outreach activities to promote waste management and recycling awareness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver marketing, communications and engagement activities according to plans and evaluate their effectiveness
  • Develop and deliver awareness campaigns and community events promoting recycling, waste reduction, and sustainability
  • Organise and deliver educational programs for schools and community groups aligned with the National Curriculum
  • Plan, manage and host site visits, open days and tours, ensuring safety, engagement, and coordination
  • Act as first point of contact for community enquiries and complaints, managing communication channels including the website
  • Represent the service at stakeholder meetings and lead external communications to enhance site reputation

Requirements

  • Previous employment in a relevant industrial or commercial environment
  • Good understanding of environmental issues and waste management practices
  • Knowledge of environmental legislation and compliance requirements
  • Experience with social media platforms for communication and engagement
  • Willingness to undergo a CRB (DBS) disclosure check
  • Availability for some evening work
