Community Engagement Intern - Job Summary
The Community Engagement Intern supports the National LGBTQ Institute on Intimate Partner Violence by assisting in daily operations, managing social media content, engaging the community, and supporting outreach and event planning.
Key Responsibilities
- Promote the Institute’s programs, services, and special events
- Create engaging Instagram content to educate on LGBTQ+ intimate partner violence
- Brainstorm and offer ideas for outreach
- Monitor social media channels and activities
- Assist with managing outreach efforts
- Provide technical assistance during webinar trainings
- Participate in 40-hour Domestic Violence Advocacy Training certification
- Support event planning and execution
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Currently enrolled degree-seeking college student, recommended majors include Communications, Gender Studies, Social Work, Sociology, or related humanities/social sciences
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- In-depth knowledge of Instagram creator functions
- Ability to work independently and in a team
- Ability to prioritize and multitask
- Alignment with Institute’s goals to enhance safety and support for LGBTQ intimate partner and domestic violence survivors
- Strong computer competency
- Effective communication with staff
