Staff Developer Advocate - Job Summary
Lead and manage the Databricks University program to expand its reach and foster educational initiatives, serving as a bridge between engineering teams and academic communities.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and strategically grow the Databricks University program, aiming to double its size and drive innovation globally.
- Manage and mentor a team to promote awareness and adoption of Databricks technologies within education.
- Initiate and replicate strategic DevRel efforts and programs for universities.
- Support creation of high-quality educational content tailored to academic audiences.
- Expand and nurture the Databricks education user community through meetups and user groups.
- Collaborate with product and engineering teams to influence product direction based on community feedback.
- Create and manage developer-focused education programs to enhance engagement and developer experience.
- Gather and analyze education community feedback to improve products and services.
- Develop and replicate effective advocacy approaches and mentor team members.
Requirements
- 7+ years managing and growing educational programs and teams, with experience owning large-scale programs.
- Technical experience in roles like software development, product management, or solutions architecture with strong data and AI knowledge.
- Passion for building strong teams.
- Proven ability to nurture developer communities and organize user groups and global meetups.
- Strong communication skills and experience teaching or facilitating technical discussions.
- Empathy for developer needs to create engaging experiences.
- Collaborative skills to align community initiatives with product goals.
- Experience working with universities and academic institutions integrating technology.
