Senior Community Manager - Job Summary
Lead and manage the dbt Slack community to create an engaging, supportive environment for global data practitioners, collaborating with internal teams to enhance member experience and community impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily operations of the dbt Slack community providing a welcoming and high-quality experience
- Collaborate with community leaders and stakeholders to develop engagement strategies and guidelines
- Create and maintain moderation and support workflows including Code of Conduct enforcement
- Coach, support, recruit, and onboard community moderators and champions
- Develop content systems for member communication including announcements and storytelling
- Collect and relay community feedback and insights to Product, Marketing, and Support teams
- Track and analyze community engagement metrics and run improvement experiments
- Manage community tools such as Slack workflows, analytics, and integration platforms
- Coordinate incident response with Legal, People, and Security teams as required
- Support broader digital engagement efforts beyond Slack including forums, social media, and events
Requirements
- 5+ years in digital community management or community program management in a global environment
- Proven experience managing large online communities, including moderation and member support
- Strong knowledge of community dynamics to foster trust and belonging at scale
- Experience developing moderation and support workflows and enforcing Codes of Conduct
- Excellent written communication and facilitation skills with conflict de-escalation ability
- Proficiency with community tools and analytics to monitor engagement and trends
- Ability to make data-informed decisions, define KPIs, and report on impact
- Strong cross-functional collaboration skills with Product, Marketing, and Support teams
- Cultural sensitivity to diverse communication styles across regions and time zones
- High emotional intelligence and ability to handle complex, sensitive situations
- Capability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment balancing flexibility and structure
