Community Engagement Specialist - Job Summary

The Community Engagement Specialist leads the Connect For Life program by building trust, engaging members through events and outreach, and fostering a connected community to improve health outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the Connect For Life program utilizing Wider Circle's curriculum to build trust and promote health.
  • Plan and host virtual and in-person events to foster member relationships and wellness.
  • Proactively contact members for participation in events, home visits, and engagement activities.
  • Document all member interactions and attendance in digital systems timely and accurately.
  • Identify and recruit community natural leaders as Wider Circle Ambassadors.
  • Conduct outreach to prospective members and enroll them in the program.
  • Serve as liaison connecting members to health plans and healthcare services.
  • Manage accountability for membership engagement and growth goals.
  • Maintain accurate time tracking and reporting for hours worked.
  • Conduct home visits for members unable to be reached otherwise.
  • Meet physical demands including driving up to 30 miles, carrying supplies, and public speaking.

Requirements

  • Ability to work well with others and provide leadership.
  • Proactive and able to lead community engagement with minimal supervision.
  • Adaptable to fast-paced, changing environments with eagerness to learn.
  • At least 3 years' experience in community outreach, teaching, or facilitation; healthcare experience preferred.
  • Experience creating or supporting communities of 500+ members.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Comfortable using web-based and app-based technology.
  • Able to work independently in a remote environment.
  • Reliable transportation and willingness to travel 20-50 miles for visits.
  • Flexible schedule to work outside regular hours as needed.
  • Willing to complete pre-employment drug testing and background checks.
  • Passionate about helping others with excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Outgoing and able to engage people both in person and virtually.
  • Strong networking and leadership skills with experience guiding peers.

Education

Associate's degree preferred; 5+ years relevant experience may be considered instead of a degree.
