Head of Community - Job Summary
Lead a team of editors to champion reader experiences and perspectives, oversee community editorial strategy, and develop initiatives to foster subscriber loyalty and retention.
Key Responsibilities
- Grow the community of subscribers with a clear strategy across multiple platforms including homepage, app, newsletters, socials, video, and podcasts.
- Increase subscriber engagement with journalists on various stories.
- Collaborate with senior commissioning and publishing editors to develop communities around core verticals.
- Use data to develop initiatives that drive high quality interactions with readers.
- Oversee commenting strategy and manage moderators to ensure appropriate comments on the platform.
- Work with marketing and events teams on subscriber-led events to encourage retention.
Requirements
- Currently in a senior position at a national publishing brand.
- Experience building and growing successful online communities.
- Experience leading a large team of editors.
- Experience commissioning, editing, and publishing content in various formats across digital platforms.
- Excellent understanding of digital publishing landscape and emerging media trends.
- Knowledge of publishing and workflow tools.
- Ability to use analytics and data to inform editorial decisions.
- Experience using technological innovation to enhance digital storytelling.
- Strong understanding of The Telegraph’s brand in digital and print.
- Preferred experience with subscription offerings.
- Proven track record of using judgment to increase engagement metrics.
- Proven ability to innovate and push boundaries.
