Community Manager - Job Summary
The Community Manager moderates and engages external online communities relevant to 2U's educational programs to ensure accurate, compliant representation and enhance organic search visibility and brand trust.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and maintain external community strategy across platforms like Reddit and Quora.
- Maintain workflows, monitoring tools, and documentation for scalable community management.
- Establish participation guidelines, tone-of-voice standards, and escalation protocols.
- Identify high-impact communities and threads related to education programs.
- Monitor, moderate, and engage in discussions to ensure accurate representation of 2U programs.
- Partner with SEO and Content teams to align community content with AI and LLM visibility.
- Track community content impact on organic search and referral traffic.
- Synthesize community sentiment and feedback into actionable insights for marketing teams.
- Provide regular reporting on engagement, visibility trends, and risks or opportunities.
- Serve as primary contact for external community management among internal stakeholders.
- Collaborate with university partners to align messaging and escalation paths.
- Support organic marketing by informing content gaps and narrative priorities.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, journalism, public relations, or related field.
- 4–6 years of experience in community management, social moderation, digital communications, or organic growth roles.
- Experience engaging on third-party platforms such as Reddit, Quora, and forums.
- Familiarity with compliance, disclosure, and brand governance in regulated environments.
- Excellent written communication skills adaptable to platform norms.
- Strong judgment, attention to detail, and ability to handle sensitive discussions.
- Proven ability to work cross-functionally and influence without direct authority.
Education
Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, journalism, public relations, or related field
