Education and Community Engagement Officer - Job Summary

The role involves building relationships with local stakeholders and community groups to promote waste management awareness through proactive community engagement and educational activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver marketing, communications, and engagement activities according to plans and evaluate campaign effectiveness.
  • Develop and deliver awareness campaigns and community events promoting recycling and sustainable behaviors.
  • Organise and deliver educational programmes for schools and community groups aligned with the National Curriculum.
  • Plan and manage site visits, open days, and tours ensuring they are safe, engaging, and well-coordinated.
  • Act as first point of contact for community enquiries and complaints with timely professional responses.
  • Represent the service at stakeholder meetings and lead external communications to enhance community profile.

Requirements

  • Previous employment experience in a relevant industrial or commercial environment.
  • Good understanding of environmental issues and waste management practices.
  • Knowledge of relevant environmental legislation and compliance requirements.
  • Experience and understanding of social media platforms for communication and engagement.
  • Willingness to undergo a CRB (DBS) disclosure check.
  • Ability to undertake some evening working.
