Fundraising and Community Engagement Manager - Job Summary

This role involves leading and expanding the Team ALS Peer-to-Peer Endurance Program and supporting community fundraising initiatives such as Walk ALS. The manager drives participant recruitment, fundraising success, volunteer coordination, and event execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead recruitment and onboarding of endurance race participants including major events like TCS New York City Marathon and TD Five Boro Bike Tour.
  • Ensure athletes reach fundraising goals through coaching and regular communication.
  • Maintain financial reporting and create post-event debrief reports.
  • Develop marketing collateral and social media content using tools like Canva.
  • Manage Walk ALS teams to maximize retention, engagement, and fundraising.
  • Lead Fundraise Your Way and third-party fundraising programs providing resources and support.
  • Recruit and manage volunteers and oversee on-site event management.
  • Provide logistical and technical support for donors via online fundraising portals.
  • Identify new revenue sources and cause-related marketing opportunities.
  • Assist with various ALS awareness events and programs, including the Lou Gehrig Awareness Baseball games and ALS Iron Horse Golf Classic.
  • Staff and assist with on-site production for events, requiring some evenings, weekends, and travel.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • 3-5 years experience in fundraising, event management, community engagement, or related field.
  • Proven success in managing fundraising programs; peer-to-peer fundraising experience preferred.
  • Strong relationship-building and donor engagement skills.
  • Excellent project management and multitasking abilities.
  • Effective verbal, written, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and as part of a team.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office; Adobe Suite and/or Canva preferred.
  • Experience with CRM and fundraising software like Luminate Online and Raiser’s Edge preferred.
  • Availability to work nights and weekends as needed.
  • Must have valid driver’s license and ability to travel to events.
  • Physical ability to perform event setup tasks both indoors and outdoors.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree required
