Community Manager - Job Summary

Manage and engage a global Open Source Software community by fostering communication, organizing initiatives, and supporting users.

Key Responsibilities

  • Be main point of contact for the OSS community by answering questions and encouraging discussion.
  • Launch and manage community initiatives such as forums and newsletters.
  • Interact with users across platforms like Discord, Reddit, forums, and social media.
  • Develop and schedule content including developer diaries, updates, user spotlights, and rewards.
  • Collaborate with marketing to ensure brand consistency.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to community feedback and comments.
  • Plan and host online and offline events like beta tests, Q&As, competitions, and meetups.
  • Gather and report community feedback and engagement metrics.
  • Provide insights and user needs reports to the development team.
  • Monitor sentiment and trends across channels.

Requirements

  • 2+ years experience as a Community Manager, ideally in tech or OSS.
  • Proven success in growing and managing online communities.
  • Deep understanding of online communities, culture, and trends.
  • Familiarity with Open Source Software culture and models.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Hands-on experience with Discord, Github, Hootsuite, and analytics platforms.
  • Content creation skills including basic graphic design, video editing, or copywriting.
  • Direct experience managing an OSS community considered a plus.
  • Experience with software development (coding, testing, design).
  • Must have Greek VAT number and be able to work for a Greek company.
  • Military service completed.
