Community Engagement & Research Intern - Job Summary

Serve as a link between the app development team and foster youth by leading outreach, building trust, and ensuring youth voices shape the FosterPower PA app.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and host lived-experience learning communities for youth with foster care backgrounds.
  • Develop and execute statewide recruitment strategies for community groups and beta testing.
  • Engage with peer organizations, social workers, and child welfare professionals to expand app community networks.
  • Collect and communicate user feedback to guide app development.
  • Provide app demonstrations and outreach to professionals and youth through presentations and panels.

Requirements

  • Former foster youth with at least two years out of the dependency system.
  • Must be over 21 years of age.
  • Preferred high school diploma or GED; college enrollment or experience is a plus.
  • Strong leadership and teamwork skills; group facilitation experience is advantageous.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills adaptable to diverse audiences.
  • Ability to work respectfully with diverse populations.
  • Highly organized, self-motivated, and willing to learn data collaboration.
  • Spanish language skills preferred but not required.
  • Willingness to complete job and advocacy training.
  • Must complete child abuse clearances and background checks.
  • Ability to work in a hybrid setting and travel within Philadelphia.

Education

High School Diploma or GED preferred; some college experience a plus
