Senior Community Manager - Job Summary
Lead digital engagement efforts focused on managing and growing the dbt Slack community by fostering a welcoming, collaborative space for data practitioners globally and partnering with internal teams to enhance member experience and community insights.
Key Responsibilities
- Own day-to-day operations of the dbt Slack community ensuring a welcoming, high-signal experience worldwide
- Partner with community leaders and stakeholders to evolve channel strategy, guidelines, and engagement programming
- Develop and maintain scalable moderation and support workflows including Code of Conduct enforcement
- Coach, support, recruit, and onboard moderators and community champions as the community grows
- Create content systems to keep members informed and activated via announcements, highlights, prompts, and storytelling
- Surface community insights and feedback to Product, Marketing, and Support and close the loop with the community
- Monitor and report on key engagement and health metrics and run experiments to improve them
- Manage community tool stack including Slack workflows, analytics, knowledge bases, integrations, and documentation
- Collaborate on incident response management with Legal, People, and Security teams as needed
- Support cross-channel digital engagement efforts beyond Slack to create a cohesive member journey
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in digital community management or online engagement in a global or distributed environment
- Experience owning day-to-day operations for large online communities including moderation and support
- Strong understanding of online community dynamics and how to foster trust and belonging at scale
- Experience building and improving moderation and support workflows and enforcing Codes of Conduct
- Excellent written communication and facilitation skills to respond empathetically and de-escalate issues
- Experience using community tooling and analytics to track engagement and identify improvement trends
- Data-informed decision making including defining KPIs, measuring impact, and reporting outcomes
- Strong cross-functional collaboration skills with Product, Marketing, Support, and Developer Experience teams
- Cultural fluency and sensitivity to diverse communication styles across regions and time zones
- High emotional intelligence and comfort managing complex situations involving conflict and ambiguity
- Ability to prioritize multiple work streams in a fast-paced environment balancing structure and flexibility
