Intern - Job Summary

This intern will support the Inclusion and Community Engagement Department in developing the 'Legendary Pathmakers' film project, involving archival research, coordination, and communication with stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct archival research on artists and events related to the Black Arts Movement in Minnesota.
  • Coordinate with interview participants, filmmaker, and community engagement staff on filming locations and schedules.
  • Support community engagement staff during filming by taking notes, setting up, and coordinating with film crew and locations.
  • Communicate regularly with community engagement staff about project logistics and updates.
  • Attend meetings with MNHS staff as needed.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled or recently graduated undergraduate or graduate student.
  • Pursuing or holding a degree in History, Archival Science, Digital Communication, Journalism, Ethnic Studies, American Studies, African American Studies, Film Studies, Public History, or Museum Studies.
  • Some experience in archival research.
  • Experience with community engagement and public participation projects.
  • Ability to work occasional weekends and evenings for events or filming.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Interest in African American history and culture.
  • Preference for experience working with BIPOC or underrepresented communities.

Education

Currently enrolled or recently graduated undergraduate or graduate student in a relevant field.
