Intern - Job Summary
This intern will support the Inclusion and Community Engagement Department in developing the 'Legendary Pathmakers' film project, involving archival research, coordination, and communication with stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct archival research on artists and events related to the Black Arts Movement in Minnesota.
- Coordinate with interview participants, filmmaker, and community engagement staff on filming locations and schedules.
- Support community engagement staff during filming by taking notes, setting up, and coordinating with film crew and locations.
- Communicate regularly with community engagement staff about project logistics and updates.
- Attend meetings with MNHS staff as needed.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled or recently graduated undergraduate or graduate student.
- Pursuing or holding a degree in History, Archival Science, Digital Communication, Journalism, Ethnic Studies, American Studies, African American Studies, Film Studies, Public History, or Museum Studies.
- Some experience in archival research.
- Experience with community engagement and public participation projects.
- Ability to work occasional weekends and evenings for events or filming.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Interest in African American history and culture.
- Preference for experience working with BIPOC or underrepresented communities.
Education
Currently enrolled or recently graduated undergraduate or graduate student in a relevant field.
