Director of Internal Communications & Community Engagement - Job Summary
Lead the development and execution of internal and external communications strategies, oversee community engagement initiatives, and support executive communications to align with business goals and promote company culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead integrated internal and external communications strategy.
- Advise CEO and executive leadership on communications and crisis management.
- Develop and implement internal communications promoting transparency and belonging.
- Lead community engagement including volunteerism, corporate giving, and local partnerships.
- Manage content for Town Halls, all-hands meetings, newsletters, and recognition programs.
- Collaborate across HR, IT, and Facilities to support hybrid workplace communication.
- Drive public relations efforts and manage media relationships.
- Partner with Marketing to align brand messaging across channels.
- Oversee social media presence and digital content development.
- Monitor social sentiment and emerging digital channels.
- Prepare executive communications including speeches and presentations.
- Prepare executives for public appearances and interviews.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations, or related field.
- 7–10+ years of experience in corporate communications, agency, media relations, or related environment.
- Exceptional writing, editing, storytelling, and presentation skills.
- Ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and influence executives.
- Experience with digital tools including CMS, intranet platforms, social media tools, and Microsoft 365.
- Proven experience managing communications in dynamic organizations.
- Strong business acumen and discretion in handling sensitive information.
- Experience with corporate social responsibility or community engagement initiatives is a plus.
- Tech-forward mindset with creativity in employee engagement and digital storytelling.
- Understanding of culture, communications, and corporate social impact connections.
- Experience in hybrid workforce settings and service-based or B2C organizations.
- High emotional intelligence and ability to connect with diverse audiences.
Education
Bachelor’s degree required; preferred in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations, or related field.
