Director of Community Engagement - Job Summary
Leads community engagement, outreach, relationship development, and growth strategies to connect people to the YMCA, increase membership, and expand program participation through partnerships and effective community presence.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive community engagement strategy to drive membership acquisition, retention, program participation, and mission impact.
- Represent YMCA in the community by networking with businesses, schools, healthcare providers, nonprofits, municipalities, civic organizations, and community leaders.
- Develop and strengthen strategic partnerships to generate opportunities for membership growth, corporate memberships, sponsorships, referrals, volunteerism, philanthropy, and collaboration.
- Serve as a connector for outreach initiatives ensuring a visible, active YMCA presence in the region.
- Spend approximately 50% of work time on community outreach, partnership development, networking, and off-site engagement.
- Collaborate with leadership and membership teams to develop strategic marketing campaigns supporting membership, programs, events, and fundraising.
- Perform additional duties assigned by Executive Director timely and efficiently.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, communications, marketing, recreation management, human services, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- 3 to 5 years of experience in membership operations, sales, community engagement, or customer service leadership.
- Experience supervising staff and leading teams.
- Experience in budgeting, financial oversight, and data-driven decision-making.
- Ability to establish and grow relationships with community partners, businesses, and stakeholders.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and public relations skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a dynamic environment.
- Strong computer and technology skills, including membership management software and reporting tools.
Education
Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience
