Fundraising and Community Engagement Manager - Job Summary

The Manager leads and expands the Team ALS Peer-to-Peer Endurance Program, supports Walk ALS and community fundraising initiatives, and drives revenue through major endurance events across the Greater New York area.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead recruitment and onboarding of participants for endurance events including marathons and cycling races.
  • Provide fundraising coaching and support to athletes to ensure they reach their goals.
  • Maintain financial reporting and create post-event debrief reports to improve future events.
  • Develop marketing materials such as Canva graphics for emails, signage, correspondence, and social media.
  • Manage and strengthen relationships with Walk ALS teams to maximize retention, engagement, and fundraising.
  • Serve as lead for Fundraise Your Way and third-party fundraising programs, providing resources and representation.
  • Recruit and manage volunteers for events including Walk ALS and Team ALS activities.
  • Provide logistical and technical support to donors using the online fundraising portal.
  • Identify new revenue sources and cause-related marketing opportunities.
  • Assist with other ALS awareness and fundraising events including Lou Gehrig Awareness Baseball games and Young Professionals Group.
  • Staff events and assist with on-site production, including evenings, weekends, and travel.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • 3-5 years of experience in fundraising, event management, community engagement, or related field.
  • Proven success in growing and managing fundraising programs, preferably peer-to-peer.
  • Strong relationship-building skills to engage donors, volunteers, and corporate partners.
  • Excellent project management, verbal, written, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Diplomatic, able to work well under pressure, and a team player.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office; experience with Adobe Suite and/or Canva preferred.
  • Preferred proficiency with Luminate Online, Raiser’s Edge, or similar CRM and peer-to-peer fundraising tools.
  • Ability to work nights and weekends as needed.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to/from events.
  • Physical ability to perform event setup tasks including lifting and mobility required.
