Fundraising and Community Engagement Manager - Job Summary
The Manager leads and expands the Team ALS Peer-to-Peer Endurance Program, supports Walk ALS and community fundraising initiatives, and drives revenue through major endurance events across the Greater New York area.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead recruitment and onboarding of participants for endurance events including marathons and cycling races.
- Provide fundraising coaching and support to athletes to ensure they reach their goals.
- Maintain financial reporting and create post-event debrief reports to improve future events.
- Develop marketing materials such as Canva graphics for emails, signage, correspondence, and social media.
- Manage and strengthen relationships with Walk ALS teams to maximize retention, engagement, and fundraising.
- Serve as lead for Fundraise Your Way and third-party fundraising programs, providing resources and representation.
- Recruit and manage volunteers for events including Walk ALS and Team ALS activities.
- Provide logistical and technical support to donors using the online fundraising portal.
- Identify new revenue sources and cause-related marketing opportunities.
- Assist with other ALS awareness and fundraising events including Lou Gehrig Awareness Baseball games and Young Professionals Group.
- Staff events and assist with on-site production, including evenings, weekends, and travel.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree required.
- 3-5 years of experience in fundraising, event management, community engagement, or related field.
- Proven success in growing and managing fundraising programs, preferably peer-to-peer.
- Strong relationship-building skills to engage donors, volunteers, and corporate partners.
- Excellent project management, verbal, written, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Diplomatic, able to work well under pressure, and a team player.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office; experience with Adobe Suite and/or Canva preferred.
- Preferred proficiency with Luminate Online, Raiser’s Edge, or similar CRM and peer-to-peer fundraising tools.
- Ability to work nights and weekends as needed.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to/from events.
- Physical ability to perform event setup tasks including lifting and mobility required.
