Director of Marketing and Community Engagement - Job Summary

The Director of Marketing and Community Engagement leads marketing, communications, public relations, brand management, and community engagement efforts. This role develops and executes strategic marketing initiatives to increase awareness, strengthen relationships, promote programs, and support fundraising goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and implement comprehensive marketing and communications strategy aligned with organizational goals.
  • Develop corporate partnerships and sponsorship strategies to strengthen community relationships.
  • Provide oversight of digital marketing including website, social media, email marketing, digital advertising, and online reputation.
  • Oversee community outreach initiatives and events promoting the organization's mission and services.
  • Coordinate website enhancements, SEO, maintenance, and analytics with vendors.
  • Partner with Development team to create marketing strategies for fundraising and donor stewardship.
  • Supervise marketing coordinator, consultants, photographers, videographers, graphic designers, and vendors.
  • Develop and execute integrated marketing campaigns across various communication channels.
  • Create content highlighting adoptable animals, campaigns, volunteer opportunities, and organizational impact.
  • Develop communications strategies to engage community members, volunteers, donors, media, and other stakeholders.
  • Oversee creation of annual reports, brochures, promotional materials, and organizational publications.
  • Build and maintain relationships with media, community organizations, corporate partners, and stakeholders.
  • Lead branding, messaging, and public relations to strengthen visibility and community engagement.
  • Serve as communications leader overseeing press releases, media statements, speeches, and external communications.
  • Produce and oversee monthly e-newsletter and recurring digital communications.
  • Ensure brand consistency across all materials and departments.
  • Identify opportunities to increase organizational presence and goals.
  • Stay informed of marketing trends, nonprofit best practices, and emerging technologies.
  • Act as ambassador for SPCA Westchester's mission and values.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications or related field (required).
  • Minimum 8 years of progressive marketing, communications, or public relations experience with at least 3 years in leadership.
  • Proven experience in strategic marketing plans and integrated communication campaigns.
  • Experience managing brand strategy, media relations, digital marketing, and public communications.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, editing, and presentation skills.
  • Strong leadership, project management, organizational, and decision-making skills.
  • Experience managing websites, social media, email marketing, digital advertising, and marketing analytics.
  • SEO experience required; knowledge of Google Grants Ads and WordPress.
  • Proficiency with CMS, email platforms, CRM systems, Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite or similar preferred.
  • Passion for animal welfare and commitment to SPCA Westchester mission.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications or related field
