Senior Community Manager - Job Summary
Lead digital engagement for the dbt community, managing and growing the dbt Slack community to foster connection, learning, and collaboration among data practitioners worldwide.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day operations of the dbt Slack community ensuring a welcoming and valuable experience
- Collaborate with community leaders and internal teams on strategy, guidelines, and engagement programs
- Develop scalable moderation and support workflows including Code of Conduct enforcement
- Coach, support, recruit, and onboard community moderators and champions
- Create content systems for member communication and engagement
- Provide community insights and feedback to Product, Marketing, and Support teams and close the feedback loop
- Monitor and report on key engagement metrics and conduct experiments to improve them
- Manage community tools and document best practices
- Coordinate incident response with Legal, People, and Security teams
- Support engagement efforts beyond Slack including forums, social media, and events
Requirements
- 5+ years experience in digital community management or related roles in a global environment
- Experience managing large online communities with moderation and member support
- Strong knowledge of online community dynamics and trust-building at scale
- Experience building moderation and support workflows and enforcing Codes of Conduct
- Excellent communication and facilitation skills to handle sensitive issues effectively
- Proficiency with community tools and analytics to drive engagement improvements
- Data-driven decision making with KPI definition, measurement, and reporting
- Strong cross-functional collaboration with Product, Marketing, Support, and Developer Experience
- Cultural sensitivity and emotional intelligence in diverse and complex situations
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
