Head of Community Engagement - Job Summary
Lead the community engagement team to drive participant diversity strategies by designing and delivering inclusive recruitment initiatives and fostering partnerships to ensure research reflects the diversity of the UK population.
Key Responsibilities
- Own vision and strategy for participant diversity and community engagement
- Lead, develop, and inspire a multidisciplinary team
- Design, deliver and evolve participant diversity strategies
- Influence delivery plans to prioritize underrepresented communities
- Use data and analytics to monitor cohort diversity strategically
- Lead cross-organisational alignment on diversity priorities
- Build and oversee high-impact external partnerships
- Act as a senior external representative and spokesperson
- Drive organisational learning, innovation, and culture change
Requirements
- Senior leadership experience in community engagement, inclusion, or social impact programmes
- Proven record of developing and delivering outcome-driven strategies
- Experience working with diverse or underrepresented communities and understanding engagement barriers
- Experience leading and developing teams in complex or fast-paced environments
- Strong ability to influence senior stakeholders and shape priorities
- Experience using data and insight to evaluate impact and guide strategy
- Experience building external partnerships with community organisations, charities, public bodies, or industry partners
- Confidence as a credible external representative with partners and senior stakeholders
- Experience in health research, public health, NHS, or life sciences is beneficial
