Senior Community Manager - Job Summary
Lead digital engagement for the dbt Slack community by managing growth, fostering collaboration, and enhancing member experience for global data practitioners.
Key Responsibilities
- Own daily operations of the dbt Slack community to ensure a welcoming and high-quality experience.
- Partner with community leaders and stakeholders to evolve channel strategies and engagement programming.
- Develop scalable moderation and support workflows, including Code of Conduct enforcement.
- Coach, support, recruit, and onboard moderators as the community expands.
- Create content systems to keep members informed and active.
- Surface community insights to Product, Marketing, and Support teams and close the feedback loop.
- Monitor and report on engagement and health metrics, running experiments to improve them.
- Manage community tools for digital engagement and document best practices.
- Plan and manage incident response with relevant teams as needed.
- Support broader digital engagement across forums, social media, and events.
Requirements
- 5+ years experience in digital community management or related roles in global/distributed environments.
- Experience managing large online communities including moderation and member support.
- Strong understanding of online community dynamics to build trust and belonging.
- Experience designing and improving moderation workflows and enforcing Codes of Conduct.
- Excellent written communication and facilitation skills.
- Competency using community tools and analytics to track engagement and trends.
- Ability to use data-informed decision-making for defining KPIs and reporting outcomes.
- Strong cross-functional collaboration skills with Product, Marketing, Support, and Developer Experience teams.
- Cultural fluency and sensitivity to diverse communication styles across regions.
- High emotional intelligence and ability to navigate complex and sensitive situations.
- Ability to prioritize multiple work streams in fast-paced environments.
