Education and Community Engagement Officer - Job Summary
The role involves building positive relationships with local stakeholders and community groups, delivering education and engagement activities to promote recycling, waste reduction, and sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver marketing, communications and engagement activities in line with plans, working with site management and evaluating campaign effectiveness.
- Develop and deliver awareness campaigns and community events promoting recycling and sustainable behaviours.
- Organise and deliver educational programmes for schools and community groups aligned with the National Curriculum.
- Plan, manage and host site visits, open days and tours ensuring safety, engagement and effective coordination, including creating supporting materials.
- Act as the first point of contact for community enquiries and complaints, ensuring timely, professional responses and maintaining communication channels including the website.
- Represent the service at stakeholder meetings and lead external communications to enhance the site’s profile and reputation.
Requirements
- Previous employment experience in a relevant industrial or commercial environment.
- Good understanding of environmental issues and waste management practices.
- Knowledge of relevant environmental legislation and compliance requirements.
- Experience and understanding of social media platforms for communication and engagement.
- Willingness to undergo a CRB (DBS) disclosure check.
- Availability for some evening working.
