Community Engagement Associate - Job Summary
Manage StartOut’s regional and virtual community mobilization by leading Leadership Council members and collaborating with sponsors to support impactful events for LGBTQ+ entrepreneurs.
Key Responsibilities
- Recruit, onboard, and offboard Leadership Council Chairs aligned with strategic growth goals
- Support volunteer engagement with outreach strategies, recruitment tools, and code of conduct oversight
- Guide Council Chairs in designing and planning local events
- Deliver annual training on board responsibilities and event facilitation
- Conduct monthly diversity and volunteer data audits and provide quarterly DEI insights
- Provide event-planning resources and act as primary contact for regional council requests
- Manage logistics for community events including venues, vendors, registration, fundraising, and budgets
- Evaluate event KPIs and lead generation to recommend optimizations
- Ensure inclusivity in community initiatives reflecting diverse LGBTQ+ intersections
- Oversee post-event feedback and compile reports for improvements
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in volunteer management, corporate affinity groups, or grassroots community organizing
- Proven ability to recruit, motivate, and manage volunteer-led teams to meet program targets
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills with cultural sensitivity
- Strong cross-functional project management and consensus-building skills
- Self-starter who can manage shifting priorities independently
- Passion for entrepreneurship, economic empowerment, and LGBTQ+ community support
- Preferred experience in event production or marketing
- Familiarity with startup accelerator, incubator, or venture capital environments
- Proficiency with Salesforce, Asana, and Eventbrite
