Youth Prevention Outreach & Community Engagement Specialist - Job Summary
The role focuses on community-based prevention and early intervention for youth at risk of commercial sexual exploitation through outreach, education, and engagement in schools and community settings.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain consistent outreach presence in priority areas including schools and community locations where youth are vulnerable to exploitation.
- Engage youth using trauma-informed, culturally responsive approaches to provide prevention education and resources.
- Develop and deliver prevention education to youth and provide resources to parents, educators, and community partners.
- Identify youth at risk or experiencing exploitation and facilitate warm handoffs to intervention advocates.
- Build and maintain partnerships with schools and youth-serving organizations to expand prevention and intervention efforts.
- Document outreach contacts, referrals, and program activities accurately and timely.
- Participate in training, supervision, team meetings, and continuous quality improvement activities.
- Adhere to organizational policies including confidentiality, mandated reporting, and professional conduct.
Requirements
- Comfort conducting outreach in unstructured, community-based environments.
- Ability to communicate sensitive topics engagingly and appropriately with youth.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for engaging multidisciplinary professionals and community partners.
- Ability to recognize safety concerns and exercise sound judgment for intervention or crisis support.
- Professionalism, reliability, integrity, and capacity to work independently in the community.
- Collaborative team skills and understanding of outreach versus case management roles.
- Willingness to complete pre-employment drug screening and background check.
- Commitment to culturally responsive, inclusive services for diverse youth.
- Ability and willingness to fulfill mandated reporting requirements per Washington State law.
- Alignment with REST’s mission and statement of faith.
