Senior Community Manager - Job Summary
Lead digital engagement efforts for the dbt Slack community, managing and growing the community while partnering with internal teams and leaders to enhance member experience and drive participation worldwide.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day operations of the dbt Slack community ensuring a welcoming and high-quality experience
- Collaborate with community leaders and stakeholders to evolve channel strategy, guidelines, and engagement programs
- Develop scalable moderation and support workflows including Code of Conduct enforcement
- Coach and support moderators and community champions, and recruit new moderators
- Create content systems for announcements, highlights, prompts, and storytelling to keep members engaged
- Provide community insights and feedback to Product, Marketing, and Support teams and close the loop with the community
- Monitor and report on engagement and health metrics and run improvement experiments
- Manage community tools including Slack workflows, analytics, knowledge base, and integrations
- Plan and manage incident response in collaboration with Legal, People, and Security teams
- Support digital engagement beyond Slack including forums, social media, and events for a cohesive member journey
Requirements
- 5+ years in digital community management, online engagement, or related roles in global/distributed environments
- Experience managing large online communities with moderation and member support
- Strong understanding of online community dynamics to build trust and belonging
- Experience developing moderation and support workflows including Code of Conduct enforcement
- Excellent written communication and facilitation skills with ability to de-escalate and encourage conversation
- Proficiency with community tools and analytics to track and improve engagement
- Data-informed decision-making skills including KPI definition and reporting
- Strong cross-functional collaboration abilities with Product, Marketing, Support, and Developer Experience teams
- Cultural sensitivity and fluency in communication across regions and timezones
- High emotional intelligence, comfortable handling complex situations and prioritizing multiple workstreams in a fast-paced environment
