Senior Community Manager - Job Summary
Lead digital engagement for the dbt Slack community, fostering a collaborative environment for data practitioners globally by managing operations, content, and community insights.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily operations of the dbt Slack community to ensure a welcoming experience
- Partner with community leaders and stakeholders on channel strategy and engagement programming
- Develop scalable moderation and support workflows including Code of Conduct enforcement
- Coach, support, recruit, and onboard moderators and community champions
- Create content systems to keep members engaged and informed
- Surface community insights to Product, Marketing, and Support and close feedback loops
- Monitor and report on engagement and health metrics and run improvement experiments
- Manage community tools and document best practices
- Plan and manage incident response with relevant departments as needed
- Support broader digital engagement across community forums, social media, and events
Requirements
- 5+ years in digital community management, online engagement, or community program management
- Proven experience managing large online communities including moderation and member support
- Strong understanding of online community dynamics and trust-building at scale
- Experience building moderation workflows and enforcing Codes of Conduct
- Excellent written communication and facilitation skills with conflict de-escalation
- Proficiency with community tools and analytics for engagement tracking and improvement
- Data-informed decision making with KPI definition and outcome reporting
- Strong cross-functional collaboration with Product, Marketing, Support, and Developer Experience
- Cultural fluency and sensitivity to diverse communication styles across regions and time zones
- High emotional intelligence and ability to navigate complex and sensitive situations
- Ability to prioritize across multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment balancing structure and flexibility
